A big mess, with a ton of geneaology stuff as well. I can't make head nor tail out of it. --jpgordon{gab} 02:15, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I think you've got the wrong page. VFD is not cleanup. anthony 警告 02:20, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. More notable than the girl who came fourth in Aussie Idol.Dr Zen 04:46, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Send to clean up andpray for an Irish editor with a ton of free time: The person is notable. The article is a dump from somewhere (a textbook? an HTML encyclopedia? someone's lecture notes?) that needs full investigation. If the choice is simply "keep like this" or "delete," delete would be better with a Requested Articles listing on the man. Hopefully, Clean Up can save it. Geogre 05:26, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)- As it is copyvio, delete and make it a requested article. Geogre 20:02, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Delete if it remains as is. As Geogre said, ot looks like a copy and paste job. DCEdwards1966 05:56, Nov 25, 2004 (UTC)
- I wonder if my argument will gain if I call this
cleanupcruft... uh, or requestcruft. :) Samaritan 10:33, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC) - Rewrite or Delete. Copyvio from the book The Irish War of Independence by Michael Hopkinson. Possibly parts are copyvio from other sources too - if its to be kept, it needs to be completely rewritten. David Johnson 12:01, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- So if it's a copyvio, mark it as such. --jpgordon{gab} 17:49, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I would, but the copyvio tag only likes urls... OK, for now I'll use a link pointing to somewhere the book is for sale and make a note at the bottom of the page... unless anyone knows a better way to do it. David Johnson 18:14, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Ah, sorry if I sounded snarky. Try WP:CP#Suspected_copyright_infringements_without_online_source. --jpgordon{gab} 18:19, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)

- This is clearly sections from elsewhere merely cut and pasted, and so isn't acceptable for Wikipedia. An article on this figure is worth having, but we can't keep this mess. Delete and list on requested articles. Average Earthman 15:36, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. I agree that this should be deleted and listed on requested articles. I removed the cleanup notice that I had placed there. --timc | Talk 16:27, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Don't delete, replace with substub and request for new article. Edward Shortt (1862-1935) was a very notable figure as Chief Secretary for Ireland and Home Secretary in the Lloyd George Coalition government, and later served as President of the British Board of Film Censors. - Delete. Cribcage 20:10, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Keep: Convert to stub and list for cleanup. BTW, I'm starting a campaign to stop deleting things just because the content is not good. We should only delete things that couldn't/shouldn't be articles. For all others, we remove copyvio text and otherwise clean up the article (or post it where someone eventually will). I recommend people read the deletion policy which could be easily summarized as "only delete articles that have no potential to be encyclopedic". Chuck 21:11, 30 Nov 2004 (UTC)
