Studebaker Starlight?

[edit]

Just a question, should this article be retitled Studebaker Starlight Coupe since they were the inventors and the only ones to use this body style? user: stude62 user talk:stude62 00:57, 4 Feb 2005 (UTC)

This was not a design of Leowy as I recently discovered. The design patent is credited to V.M. Exner as the sole creator. You can find that design registration and a story about this matter at this site: http://theoldmotor.com/?p=160117 Maddogducati (talk) 04:12, 27 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The name should reflect whatever the original title was. Unless the vehicle wasn't branded as a Studebaker anywhere at all (similar to the Imperial and the recent versions of the Maybach), it should be titled Studebaker x. And unless it was actually officially called the Starlight Coupe, then it should probably only be the Studebaker Starlight (or maybe the Studebaker Starlight coupe, but only if 1) there's another Starlight page, and 2) there's a really good reason why this can't go in that page). I half-heartedly recommend Studebaker Starlight, but I don't know all the facts.
In any event, I'm going to try to clean up a bit of what's in there. I'm still worried about the wording in the third paragraph—it could use some references. If you have a page number in the listed source, you can just append (Maloney, xx) (no emphasis) to whatever isn't factually obvious. --Milkmandan 02:11, 2005 Feb 4 (UTC)
Ahh OK. Until I went word-by-word through the article, I was unaware that there was another coupe that Studebaker sold. I still recommend Studebaker Starlight, but there should be a mention of the other coupe in the first paragraph. --Milkmandan 02:39, 2005 Feb 4 (UTC)
So since this is a body style and not a model per se its still OK without the modifier? user: stude62 user talk:stude62 02:43, 4 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Yep, this looks good. I'm still not certain I understand the naming convention, but it's something that should really be discussed on the Talk:Studebaker page, not here. --Milkmandan 23:57, 2005 Feb 4 (UTC)

Image placement

[edit]

This article has an image of a 1951 Studebaker Starlight that shows just the front end of the image - would it be better to move it the Studebaker article as an example of the bullit nose front end? I'm raising the point because it doesn't illustrate the Starlight, and I've moved the image to the bottom of the artcile for that reason. Stude62 01:21, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
