[edit]Did any of the recent proposed City Charter amendments on the Nov. 2, 2004, ballot pass? If so, some updating might be in order, about terms for members of council, etc.
Shields Green
[edit]I don't know if this is the correct place to point this out but there is a very important factual mistake toward the end of the section on Abolition. There it says that Shields Green died during the raid on Harper's Ferry but in the Wikipedia entry on Shields Green it says that "[Shields] Green and Copeland were indicted, tried, and convicted with John Brown for treason against Virginia and other crimes ... Green and Copeland were hanged two weeks after Brown." I am not absolutely positive of which is true so I hesitate to make this change in the text; but I think someone should make this correction. radphilosophe1 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Radphilosophe1 (talk • contribs) 13:31, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for catching this. I've corrected it. deisenbe (talk) 15:58, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
Not the first public film screening
[edit]There was text that claimed Oberlin was the site of the first public film screening, based on the following text at http://new.oberlin.edu/apollo/history.dot : "Thomas Edison’s moving picture show was first exhibited in Oberlin in February 1900". I believe that text means that Oberlin first saw Thomas Edison's show in 1900, *not* that it was the first place Edison gave it. A reasonable mistake to make. --tgeller (talk) 04:28, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
