'A bipod mounted anti tank rifle, succeded by the american Bazooka and the PIAT shaped charge. In appearance it looked like a bren gun - a padded rifle stock and pistol grip, an over-breach magazine, and a five foot long barrel with a single shot bolt action breech, firing .55 inch calibre rounds. Named after General Boys, it was effective against early tanks, especially when used to smash the tank tracks, but as armour thickened in the later WW2 tanks it became less effective.'
