[edit]Margaret Atwood, who won the first award, is Canadian. That is inconsistent with the criteria the article states, which is that the award is for British SF. Hu 11:23, 2004 Nov 15 (UTC)
According to the first sentence, the award is "given for the best science fiction novel first published in the United Kingdom during the previous year." It doesn't say the writer has to be British. 80.42.80.99 14:12, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
Hate To Point This Out
[edit]. . . but most of these books are not what Author C. Clark would call "science fiction." They have very little science in them and a whole lot of socio-political fiction. (I bet he just about flipped out when Margaret Atwood's Handmaid's Tale was picked the first year.) TimeDog (talk) 14:43, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
'Never let me go' didn't win the award.
[edit]I'm pretty sure air won that year, not Never let me go. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.22.237.165 (talk) 10:34, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- That's wierd, you're right, and I even said so in the lead that Ryman won both times he's been nominated. Well, fixed now. --PresN 15:22, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
Blue Ribbons
[edit]I've asked about the accessibility of those blue ribbon tags at Wikipedia talk:ACCESS#Access question for a list, so we can get a definitive answer. (Featured Lists need to meet WP:ACCESS standards, which is why we have the markers on the winners to begin with, besides just the blue backgrounds.) --PresN 18:34, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
- I've removed them, and commented there. Further opinion should be sought there, before re-adding them. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 18:39, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
