My female ancestor was a servant in the kitchen of the the Marquess sometime between 1872-1900. Is there any source for details on the dates and character of her service?

I doubt there are public records beyond what would be available for anyone -- census records and so forth. You could try writing a polite letter to the current Marquess; perhaps the family has something. Now, if you want more general information on the workings of aristocratic Victorian households, I'm sure there's plenty of that around. - Loren

Barony

[edit]

Can someone check the entry as I think the titles are Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, Co York, and Baron Mulgrave of New Ross, Co Wexford. I don't entirely trust Burke's being accurate in their entry so I won't amend it until someone can check.Alci12 13:03, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This church website notes: "1873 - When the Marquis of Normanby was Vicar.. " This seems a little surprising and there seems to be no mention of St Mark's Church, Worsley here. Martinevans123 (talk) 13:20, 17 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
