Someone put in sarcastic commentary to the Rambo thing so I removed it. Also, I noticed that it says "r Cody Custer was born in Kingman" and I'm wondering what got edited out accidentally? Who is Cody Custer? Furthermore, who are Debbie Snelling and Lily Young? I tried looking them up on google and I really have no idea who these people are. It would be great if someone who DOES know who they are would add that information to the article... --24.121.236.166 (talk) 21:09, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wondering how to edit this U.S. City Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Cities standards might help. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rory096 (talkcontribs)

Yeah, this is totally non-encyclopaedic at the time. Makes the whole town sound trivial to have claims to fame of "Jean Claude Van Damme got a speeding ticket outside this town 15 years ago once" or "a porn star got caught here once doing her thing, but wasn't prosecuted"! Or, worst still, "k-tanna is a nickname the class of 2005 gave this town." Even living down south, I still think any reference to a high school class as a political block in the news (HS sports, etc) makes everyone look sad. --Mrcolj (talk) 12:09, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. I am removing the high school nicknames and the Van Damme speeding ticket. The latter item is negative contentious material about a living person, so if anyone wants to add it back, a source must be provided per WP:BLP. Thanks, Baileypalblue (talk) 07:08, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To the editors

[edit]

Hello to the Editors,

My name is Fred Bennett and I own www.kingman-az.com. Kingmanlivinging.com has been replacing my links with theirs.

Here is the first time at Kingman Arizona.

Revision as of 20:29, 3 December 2007

http://www.kingman-az.com/ Kingman-AZ.com - A Local Directory of Businesses, Community Info., Real Estate, Churches, Etc

Changed to:

http://www.kingmanliving.com/ Kingman's Local Directory of Businesses, Community Info., Real Estate, Churches, Etc.

As you can see they even use very close to the same wording. I know that this is all petty B.S. but they really piss me off with it. I have emailed them and asked that they leave my links alone to no avail.

Response by KingmanLiving.com... Kingmanliving.com has been linked to this page for some time. It is the site by Kingman-az.com that is undo'ing links and causing this frustration. As you can see, both of these external links are just fine on this page, no need to remove either. Also, someone keeps removing the mohavepolitics.com link. This is a noncommercial site that includes information for kingman az politics and discussion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.101.192.123 (talk) 02:29, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like we have a statement from each side. Welcome both of you to Wikipedia. In an attempt at peace-making (please help me to make peace-making possible) I'd like to point out among of the pillars of Wikipedia society there is a request to assume good faith on the part of other editors. In electronic communications, there are too many chances to misinterpret another person's actions when they meant nothing wrong. Both of you may have an additional challenge since you've perceived a conflict over this - try to get past that and just do the right thing. The other pillar of Wikipedia society that's relevant here is conflict of interest - just leave each other's links alone. As long as your site provides relevant information about the area and isn't just an advertisement, it can be linked from Wikipedia. After I reverted one of the edits, Fred2258 wrote me an e-mail explaining he intended to just add his own link back, but wasn't familiar with the undo feature and that probably unintentionally made this situation worse. I wouldn't be surprised if similar misunderstandings happened on both sides, because that's how electronic communications can mess things up for all of us. The exact cause doesn't matter for this discussion - we need to see a solution going forward. So in the future, if you make a mistake, just 'fess up and all can be corrected, hopefully without hurting the feelings of others in your local community or the Wikipedia community. The consequences for not getting along could be that other editors may eventually lean in favor of removing all your sites' links on the basis of self-advertising. Then everyone loses because both your sites seem to have relevant info that Wikipedia is better off including. Ikluft (talk) 03:22, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you from KingmanLiving.com and we are in complete agreement. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.101.192.123 (talk) 04:39, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review

[edit]

This review is transcluded from Talk:Kingman, Arizona/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review. Hi there, I am afraid that this article has quickfailed GA due to a number of serious infringements of the Wikipedia:good article criteria.

Issues preventing promotion

[edit]
  • It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):
Most of the article is in a serious mess, including numerous single sentance paragraphs and "In popular culture", "famous residents" and "points of interest" sections, numerous in text weblinks and a string of other more minor problems.
  • It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
As well as an outstanding [citation needed] tag, this article also has few inline citations where they count especially in the hhistory section which is almost totally unreferenced. The references that the article does have are fine but are simply not enough.
  • It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
All sections, because they are poorly written fail to give context. All sections are too short and some, such as a discussion of the weather and geography are missing entirely.
With such little context its unlikely that this is representative of all viewpoints.
  • It is stable.
  • It contains images, where possible, to illustrate the topic.
a (tagged and captioned): b (lack of images does not in itself exclude GA): c (non-free images have fair use rationales):
  • Overall:
    a Pass/Fail:

Thankyou and I am sorry the review was not more positive, if you disagree with my assesment then you are more than welcome to take the article to WP:GAR. I hope you have better luck next time, all the best.--Jackyd101 (talk) 10:54, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Famous People?

[edit]
I removed the paragraph stating that "mafia members live in Arizona". How could this possably be documented? Does anybody really care where they live?76.166.245.241 (talk) 19:13, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Future"?

[edit]
This is a shameless puff-piece probably added by a realtor. It states that the population will increase (from 26,000 apparently) to 500,000 in the very near future making it the fastest growing area in Ariz.
That may have been some realtors pipe dream in 2006 when this article (ref.4) was written. It in no way reflects the post melt-down reality.
This section is not factual and should be removed. In fact I just removed it.76.166.245.241 (talk) 19:19, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The new Mosque in Kingman is said to give the area a population and tourism boom. 500,000 is the low end estimate. --Arsaces (talk) 18:05, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

History

[edit]

Section on the early history of the county is nonsense. Callville, as county seat? Wrong county. I will fix this when I can, unless someone else wants to do it. Asiaticus (talk) 18:52, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
