User talk:St3f
I successfully logged on to wikiquote about an hour ago, posted something and was then logged out of my account and couldn't log back in. Now I can't log in to wikiquote or wikipedia. No email comes if I do a password reset. I've got two questions: Is there anything I can do or is my wiki account gone forever? If my account was hacked, would I know?

- This account is globally locked across all Wikimedia projects as compromised. If you attempted a password reset and got no message, it is likely that someone changed or removed the email address you had entered. That probably means that you were hacked or otherwise were compromised. If you were this user, there isn't much you can do. Please follow the instructions at WP:COMPROMISED. 331dot (talk) 11:56, 20 October 2018 (UTC)

"If you were this user, there isn't much you can do." Well... shit. There goes a 10+ year old account. #crying. Can I at least get to log files so that I can prepare myself against what might be a targetted id theft attack and get a Wikipedia volunteer to look them over so they can better defend themselves against other attacks from the same source. 82.34.183.18 (talk) 12:12, 20 October 2018 (UTC)
- The account is not that old - Special:CentralAuth/St3f. If you create a new account, consider using Template:Committed identity to help regain control Ronhjones (Talk) 16:16, 20 October 2018 (UTC)
- "The account is not that old". Strange, then that the edit history of my user page goes back to 2003. That's a sideshow, though. I really want to get my account back if I can. I've not contributed that much to wikipedia over the years, but I really like this place and continuing with the account I started with, if that is at all possible, is important to me. 82.34.183.18 (talk) 16:55, 20 October 2018 (UTC)
- We can't do anything here locally about a global lock. You can create a new account and put something on the new user page like "I was formerly User:St3f but my account was compromised somehow." That lets you show you're an experienced user while allowing you to edit again. I'm sorry for your trouble and I wish we could help here, but we can't. Katietalk 19:24, 20 October 2018 (UTC)
