License tagging for Image:Nj-riverline-logo.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Nj-riverline-logo.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 08:06, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

This image has been orphaned because I posted it in a different file format later; sorry I forgot to ask for deletion! Looks like it's deleted now though. --Shadowlink1014 04:07, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Image:CATA articulated bus.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:CATA articulated bus.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 04:53, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

I've got a picture that I took myself at night, what I'm going to do is replace this image with that one and release it under public domain. I've been waiting to take a new, good picture until it's not snowing here - but I'll post my other picture just for the meantime. --Shadowlink1014 04:57, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Greetings!

Just wanted to thank you for a great example of WP:AGF on your message to User talk:82.113.121.16, with regards the Electric chair edit. It was friendly and welcoming and overall a good example of how to handle that situation! Rtucker 20:05, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Tetra Master logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Tetra Master logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. Curious about the Michigan Death Penalty Abolition...

I noticed that you added a segment to Michigan about how it was the first english speaking government to abolish capital punishment. I was curious how you found that out. --Helm.ers 14:11, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Death penalty maps

Hi. I've been looking at your "death penalty in the US" maps and i noticed a contradiction. On US lethal injection usage.png California is down as only using lethal injection but on US gas chamber usage.png it is down as using the gas chamber as a secondary method. Do you know which one is correct? /Lokal_Profil 05:58, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, my mistake! The gas chamber map is correct... on the injection map California should be colored red. I'll fix both the PNG and SVG versions... --Shadowlink1014 11:29, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
Actually my computer is down right now, and I'm using someone else's computer... I can't update the maps right now, maybe someone else can. --Shadowlink1014 11:31, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
Updated both of them, thanks for the quick reply. /Lokal_Profil 17:26, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
I haven't updated the PNG image on en.wiki only the PNG on Commons (same filename), shouldn't be a problem though since the en.wiki one isn't used and should be take away once an admin gets to it. /Lokal_Profil 17:29, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

Images lacking 'fair use rationale'

Please read WP:FURG and WP:NFCC and add DETAILED rationales for the images listed below. (It should be noted that single line rationales or boiler plate tags ARE NOT normally sufficent). Please REMOVE items from the list below once detailed rationales have been provided for the images concerned.

non-free rationals

Just a note, precedent does not matter for a rational, you should explain how the image meets our fair use criteria. Cheers :) —— Eagle101Need help? 00:23, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Okay, I went to that link and changed the rationale on the image; it should be okay now. Thanks for that link! --Shadowlink1014 00:52, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

"Pomagalski" redirect deletion

You previously deleted the redirect Pomagalski, which is the full name of the French company Poma (and the target of the former redirect). I know this was back in 2005, but I was just wondering why it shouldn't be there... --Shadowlink1014 16:17, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

The deletion comment say "db-r1" (Wikipedia:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion#Redirects), so I guess it was a blind redirect at the time. As the article pointed to now exists I have undeleted the page. Thue | talk 06:45, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Accessible Amtrak stations?

On April 19, 2007 you performed edits to a series of Amtrak stations, adding 'Yes' to the 'ADA' parameter of the {{Infobox station}}. What was your rationale for these edits? Many of the stations you claim are accessible are antiquated and have not been updated to meet the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibilities Guidelines or the local building codes that have expanded on ADAAG. (I'm thinking here of ICC/ANSI A117.1 which is the current standard for accessibility in my local jurisdiction (Washington state).) Thanks.--Ltvine 05:29, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. When I was creating the articles for Amtrak stations along the Empire Builder route in Montana, Idaho, and Washington, I referred to the current schedule at the time. But as an architect who has been dealing with ADA and subsequent refinements since 1995, and having visited some of those stations (or at least seen them from the train) I was skeptical of Amtrak's claim as published in its schedules. Which is why I didn't include that information in the infobox.
In fact there is an ongoing debate between Amtrak, local transit agencies, the Federal Railroad Administration and its parent department the Federal Department of Transportation about what constitutes accessibility--specifically relating to the platforms at stations in the face of the 2010 deadline that requires compliance with ADA. Here's an FRA guidance document from the ADA section of their website talking about what constitutes accessibility at platforms, interpreting 49 CFR 37. Whatever the interpretation of this, I know that most platforms don't meet the referenced regulations as they haven't been rebuilt since ADA was passed in 1990. Indeed, at least when speaking of the platforms, they've never been upgraded. Of course, not being able to see into the stations themselves, I can't say for sure that they aren't ADA compliant. But I do know that whatever the schedule says about the Wolf Point, Montana, station, the facilities there are not accessible. There's a good Amtrak sponsored website (www.greatamericanstations.com) that provides other resources regarding ADA requirements and provides a summary list of what features might constitute an accessible station.
So I guess you could say that I don't find the schedules to be credible in this regard. Let me know how you view this issue. Thanks!--Ltvine 16:36, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Parking at Niles Amtrak Station

I can't imagine why there might not have been any parking available at Niles (Amtrak station). These weblinks(http://www.trainweb.org/rshs/GRS%20-%20Niles,%20MI.htm)(http://www.trainweb.org/rshs/niles2.jpg) confirm it was available in 1991. ----DanTD (talk) 15:47, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Biafra banknote.jpg}

Thank you for uploading Image:Biafra banknote.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:Seattle Center Monorail logo.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:Seattle Center Monorail logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks for uploading Image:Klia transit logo.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
